“Josiah just texted and said Drake is hungry,” Mike told me when he walked in the door from the garage.
“Drake is hungry?” I asked, alarmed. “Should we take him food?”
“It’s almost 10 PM,” he said. “We’d have to hurry, but we could get to Jimmy Johns before they close and take it to him at school.”
“Emery!” I called over my shoulder. “Drake is hungry so we are leaving to take him some food!”
“Drake is hungry?” she asked as she ran upstairs. “I want to go too.”
“Good,” I said. “Let’s take the dogs too.”
And that is how the family went on a trip to visit Drake.
Sometimes, across town is too far for someone to be.
